Language becomes useful when you can do something with it. That’s why lessons are built around communication: understanding what others say, responding, asking questions, sharing information and experiences, expressing your ideas, and gradually taking part in more complex interactions.
You won’t be expected to simply “have a conversation” before you’re ready. New language and skills are introduced in meaningful contexts, practiced with support, and revisited as you learn to use them more independently.
Whether you’re starting from the beginning or building on French you already know, each lesson has a clear purpose and contributes to a larger progression.
Your path depends on what you can already do in French and where you want to go next.
Start using French from the very beginning (or rebuild a foundation that has become rusty or uncertain) through an ongoing story centered on people, conversations, and life in a French community. Build the skills you need to understand, respond, and participate in increasingly varied interactions.
Build on the French you already know and move beyond simple exchanges. Develop the skills to describe, narrate, explain, share your ideas and opinions, and participate in increasingly detailed conversations.

Kristin B., Parent of 11th Grade Student
“Before this class, my daughter saw language as just another subject to get through. What surprised me was how much she began to care. She felt respected and challenged, not talked down to. She would come home actually wanting to tell us about discussions from class. Over the year, I saw her confidence grow, not just in the language, but in how she expressed herself. It made a real difference.”
Mark F., Adult Learner
“I came in after failing my proficiency exam and honestly thought I just wasn’t wired for languages. What changed everything was how personal the approach was. The lessons were built around what I needed, and I never felt embarrassed about what I didn’t know. I passed the exam! ”
