Q: What happens during the consultation?
The consultation is free and gives us an opportunity to discuss your goals, previous experience with French, and what you would like to accomplish. We’ll also begin assessing what you can currently do in French so we can determine the most appropriate program and starting point. No payment is required for the consultation.
Q: How will you determine where I should start?
Your starting point is determined through the consultation and, when needed, further assessment during your first class. Rather than relying only on a level label, I look at what you can already understand and do in French, as well as any gaps that may need additional attention.
Q: When are classes scheduled?
Classes normally follow a regular weekly schedule agreed upon during the consultation and confirmed after payment. Alternative scheduling arrangements may be made when agreed upon by the student and instructor.
Your first class will be the first agreed class date at least two weeks after payment is received.
Q: How long does a 20-hour package last?
That depends on your class schedule. For example, a student taking two hours of class each week will complete a 20-hour package in approximately 10 weeks, while a student taking one hour per week will take approximately 20 weeks.
Packages should normally be completed within six months of the first class. Unused hours after that period are forfeited unless otherwise agreed upon.
Q: Do you work with teens or small groups?
My programs are designed primarily for individual adult learners, but I may also work with teens or small, self-formed groups depending on their needs and goals. Contact me to discuss what you’re looking for and whether one of my programs would be a good fit.
Q: What materials will I need?
Most course materials are provided digitally. If any additional materials are needed for your particular course or goals, we’ll discuss them in advance.
Q: What technical requirements are needed?
You’ll need a stable internet connection, a device with a camera and microphone, and access to a Google account in order to use Google Meet and Google Classroom.
Q: Are payment plans available?
Yes. Payment plans may be available by arrangement. The payment schedule will be agreed upon before enrollment, and the first payment is required to reserve your place.
Q: How do I pay?
Payments are made securely through PayPal. After enrollment, you’ll receive a PayPal invoice at the email address you provide.
Q: When is payment due?
Payment in full is due within 7 days of receiving your invoice, unless another payment arrangement has been agreed upon. Your place and class schedule are confirmed once the required payment has been received.
Q: Can I get a refund if I decide not to complete my package?
Yes. A $200 portion of your payment is a non-refundable deposit. If you end your package after classes have begun, the value of any completed or forfeited hours will also be deducted from the amount you have paid. Those hours are calculated at the hourly rate you paid for that package.
Any remaining balance will be refunded. Refunds cannot exceed the amount actually paid.
Q: What happens if I need to cancel a class?
If you cancel with at least 24 hours’ notice, your class can be rescheduled without penalty.
Classes cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, as well as no-shows, are forfeited and counted as used hours in your package.
Q: What happens if you need to cancel a class?
If I need to cancel a class, it will be rescheduled at no penalty to you and will not be deducted from your package.
Q: I am not located in the US. Can I still register?
Yes! Students may register from any country, provided they have the technical requirements for online sessions (see Technical Requirements above). International payment through PayPal is accepted.
